Colin Murphy
Colin Murphy is Northern Ireland’s premier stand up comedian. As regular MC at Belfast’s infamous Empire Comedy Club, Colin earned himself a reputation as a force to be reckoned with. His distinct fusion of edgy “in-your-face” topical satire, coupled with acute observational material, make him a highly original and much sought after performer.
A formally trained actor and founding member of the ‘Sightlines’ Theatre Company, Colin has appeared in countless theatre, film, and television productions. Best known as the host of the RTE show “The Blizzard of Odd” (5 series), Colin is also a regular guest on RTE’s late-night topical humor show “The Panel” (5 series). In addition, Colin has starred in the BBC’s “Elvis Has Left the Building” (2 series), RTE’s “The Unbelievable Truth”, the BBC’s “Colin Murphy’s Ad Fads” and “Colin Murphy’s TV Fads”, RTE’s “X-it File”, and BBC Northern Ireland’s “The Blame Game.”
But it is his barn storming live routines which have brought him industry and critical acclaim, including sell out runs at the 1999-2005 Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. Colin’s stand-up has been seen on “The Liffey Laughs” (RTE2), “The Stand Up Show” (BBC), “Don’t Shoot the Messenger” (Paramount Comedy), “The All New Comedy Store” (C5), and “The Return of the Empire” (BBC NI).
Colin has made two appearances
at the prestigious Montreal Just
for Laughs Festival, including a feature spot in their 2006 Irish
Gala, and he has toured New York, Singapore, Boston, Hong Kong
and Brussels.
